In celebration of 25 years of Open Studios prominence in the North Bay, ARTrails artists present a retrospective of works, past and present through 2009. Opening on on Friday 5th of February with a reception from 6 - 8pm, and continuing through until March 26th, this exhibit offers the best of local artists creativity. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, Noon til 5pm. 4pm closing on Saturday. All artwork, of course, is available for purchase. If you are a member of the Arts Council there is a 20% discount on purchases. Notes from 404: On January 19th Nicole Lee, director of ARTSPACE404 left the Council to take up a position closer to her home in Oakland, CA. To say she will be missed is a major understatement. For the last five years she has been an innovator for the visual arts, both in her role with ARTrails Open Studios and latterly with ARTSPACE404. Her vision for the gallery here was exciting, innovative and challenging. No other gallery was daring to give space to vision to some very creative artists. We wish Nicole the best luck in the world in her new position and hope we are able, at some time in the future to find someone who augmented the council in the way she managed to do. ___ ARTSPACE404 is now overseen by the Exhibits committee of the Council. Comprised of volunteer artists and Board members, they have created, due to Nicole Lee's departure and the current economic state, a return to the tried and true exhibitions of the past. First up is ARTrails Winter Exhibition Feb 5th and closes March 26th. Next up is the return of the Thursday Night Drawing Group Exhibit opening April 16th running through May 21st. On June 1st and running through July 9th comes the ever popular Members' Small Works Exhibition. The remaining exhibits are still to be finalized. For more information please email exhibits{at}artscouncilsc.com Sufficeth to say that the Exhibits Committee is now the overseeing body for future exhibitions and therefore all information and questions should be directed to the email address above and not through the general offices or staff of the Arts Council. |
